Robert Earle Stewart (Bobby), 74, of Newark, peacefully went to be with the Lord while surrounded by his family on September 3, 2021.
A native Delawarean, he was born in Wilmington to Edward D. Stewart and Anna H. Stewart (Blunt).
Bobby was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone who knew him. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and retired after 32 years at Chrysler’s Newark Assembly Plant. He enjoyed spending time fishing and boating, whether in the smallest pond or the Atlantic Ocean along the Delaware Beaches. Bobby also enjoyed camping, starting with a small tow behind, he traveled throughout the region, ultimately ending up with a permanent site along the Broadkill River in Milton at Steamboat Landing. His endless kindness, compassion and quiet strength was felt by everyone around him.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lois Ann Stewart; sister Alice Pleasanton and her husband Joe; brother Edward M. Stewart and his wife Connie; sister Jean Palmetary and her husband Donald; brother Howard Stewart and his wife Shirley; and brother Charles Stewart and his wife Nancy.
He is survived by son Eric Stewart and his wife Melonie; grandchildren Kimberly and Jacob; brother James Stewart and his wife Jane; sister Barbara Concord and her husband John; sister Carol Riggs; sister-in-law Carol Landau; and many other nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery on September 15, 2021 at 11:00 am.
