Ruth Ann Willey, age 90, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026.
Ruth Ann was raised in Milford, DE and attended Goldey Beacon College. She then worked as a legal secretary for most of her professional career. She was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher while her 3 young boys attended. She was a baseball team mother on several teams in the NNLL and was a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 362 for all 3 of her sons. She was known as the “neighborhood” mother. For many years she also volunteered at the voting poles at Jennie Smith School. Her family was her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin “Gene” Willey, Sr. whom she was married to for almost 50 years until he passed in 2006 as well as her son, Kevin Willey and grandson, Jason Willey, Sr.
Ruth Ann is survived by her sons: Martin E. Willey, Jr. (Monya) and Brian K. Willey; grandchildren: Lindsay, Mike, Michael, Kristen, Jacob, and Julian; great grandchildren: Landon, Brianna, Juliette, Makenna, and Jason, Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 2-3:00 pm at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at Beeson Funeral Home. Interment will take place privately at a later date at Delaware Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
