Samuel Comly Obituary

Samuel L. Comly, age 67, passed away suddenly, at home, on January 26, 2026, with his wife by his side.  Sam was a long time resident of Delaware, where he met his wife and they built a beautiful life together.

Sam graduated from Glasgow High School in 1976. He enjoyed a long, respected career with Delmarva Power, where he formed lasting friendships.  Sam approached his work with dedication and integrity and retired after 37 years of service.

Sam was a member of Ducks Unlimited.  An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and excitement in nature.  He spent many joyful hours hunting and fishing – pastimes that brought him both adventure and camaraderie.  He found happiness in simple pleasures and meaningful connections.

He was the beloved husband of Diane, with whom he shared 45 wonderful years of marriage.  Together they raised many dogs and created a home where all were welcome.

He was predeceased by his parents Edward F. Comly and Gertrude; his brother Edward F. Comly, Jr. and brother-in-law Robert Davis.

Sam is also survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Susan C. Davis, Mary L. and Ron Farmer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law John G. Bale and his wife Diane; Janice DiMeglio and her husband Richard; and many nieces and nephews.

Samuel L. Comly will be remembered always for his unwavering devotion to his wife, his gentle spirit and kind soul.
