Obituary

Sandra Lea Toensmeyer, beloved wife, mom, grandmom, mom-in-law, sister, aunt, and friend, went to be with God on April 7, 2023.

Sandra, a resident of Bear, Delaware, graduated from Delaware City High School and Goldey Beacom College.  She worked as a secretary in the College of Agriculture at the University of Delaware, where she met her husband of 60 years, Ulrich Carl Toensmeyer.  She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bear, Delaware.  She loved baking, shopping, and playing games with her granddaughters, and never missed a chance to attend their school events when they were growing up.  She enjoyed watching hummingbirds at the feeders she put out every summer, and she liked to watch QVC and Hallmark movies.

She is survived by her husband, Carl; her two daughters and their husbands Debra and Mike Resner, and Diane and Larry Hogan; her three granddaughters, Abby Resner, Stephanie Hogan, and Rachel Resner; her sister Linda Gallaher, her sister-in-law Monika Rahn, her three nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11:30 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, Delaware 19702.  Friends may call beginning at 10:30 am.  A Committal Service will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road., Bear, Delaware.

Psalm 23 (A favorite of Sandra’s)

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.  Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
