Shawn David Lum

Shawn David Lum, age 62, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Shawn graduated from Bohemian Manor High School in Chesapeake City, MD in 1980 and went on to get a job with Potts Welding and Boiler Repair in Newark, DE in January of 1984, where he worked until his retirement in February of 2025.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred V. Lum, Jr., his daughter, Tera Lum, and his son, Matt Halsey.

Shawn is survived by his wife and the love of his life: Tina Lum of Newark, DE; his daughter: Lacey Lum (John M.) of Bear, DE; his sons: Andrew Halsey (Mykenzie) of Newark, DE, Josh Halsey (Jayden) of Aberdeen, SD, and Steve Halsey (Linda) of Smyrna, DE; his grandchildren: Paityn, Jacob, Kaleb, River, Echo, Aura, Asher and Xzairre; his mother: Shirley Shmelter of Middletown, DE; his brothers: Scott Lum (Sherry) of Elkton, MD. Dale Lum (Robin) of Middletown, DE, and Chris Lum of Montana; his sisters: Kim Powers of Newark, DE and Tina Fairbourne (Jeremy) of Syracuse, UT; as well as his many Nieces and Nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery in Chesapeake City, MD following the service.
