Susan Menasion Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Menasion (née Coakley), born in Philadelphia, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 at the age of 55. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loyal sister, and a lifelong animal lover, especially when it came to cats, who always seemed to find their way to her heart and home.

Susan graduated from John Bartram High School in 1988. She later spent many years working at BJ’s in Newark, DE, where she was known for her warm smile, kind heart, and the way she made every customer feel like a friend. Her ability to connect with others and brighten their day was one of her greatest gifts.

Susan’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, William T. Coakley; her mother, Ethel Mae Coakley (née Rinick); her cherished niece, Heather M. Cooke; and her brother-in-law, Edward J. Cooke.

She is survived by her four loving children, Paige, Angelique, Charles Jr., and Anthony, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren: Isabella, Kenya, Ariel, Leah, Tiana, Layla, William, Kameron, Myles, and a baby girl who will carry Susan’s name and grow up hearing stories of her beautiful grandmother. Susan also leaves behind her devoted siblings: Patty, Billy (Colleen), Terri (Sam), and Debbie (Joe), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends, each of whom held a special place in her life and heart.

Susan will be remembered for her fierce love, unshakable resilience, sense of humor, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her absence is deeply felt, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be private at a later date.
