William J. Costigan

William J. Costigan, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2020 due to complications of lymphoma cancer. William was born on August 8, 1943 in Collingdale, PA to the late Joseph and Anna Costigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 2 years. Upon returning home, William went to work for the DuPont Company for over 30 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to his beach home in Wildwood, NJ and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. William loved the Newark Elks and was Past Exalted Ruler three times for Newark Elks #2281. William was most recently working part-time at Delaware Park. He was a jack-of-all trades and enjoyed completing home improvement projects in his spare time.

William was predeceased by his wife Diane whom he was married for 44 years until her death in 2011. He will be dearly missed by his daughter Diane (Jon), son Patrick, grandchildren Isabella and Liam, companion Patricia Nguyen, brother Joe Costigan of North Carolina, sister Margaret Riggs of Chicago, family friend Andy Crum as well as his cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Wednesday January 22, 2020 at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, Delaware where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:30.  A committal service will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
