William J. Holland, Jr.

William (Bill) Joseph Holland, Jr. 65, of Newark, Delaware, passed away at home on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Bill was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on July 19, 1955 to the late William J. Holland, Sr. and the late Kathleen Kane Holland. He shared his birthday with his mother whom he dearly missed.

He attended John Dickinson High School and graduated in 1973. Bill worked for Dupont in Newark, Delaware until he retired in 2001. He met his wife, Liz and many lifelong friends there.

Bill spent many summers as child and teenager at the Jersey Shore, with his three favorite aunts, Grace, Anna and Marcella. This was a tradition that was passed on to daughters. The Metedeconk River and the memories he made always had a special place in his heart. Bill enjoyed many outdoor activities over the years and was an avid fisherman. His favorite past times include spending time surf fishing out on the beach and being out in his beloved boat, “Tight Lines”. Many family vacations were spent in the Outer Banks, NC chasing the Blue Fish and Red Drum. Bill loved sports and was a Phillies and Eagles fan. He enjoyed adding to his grandchildren’s baseball card collection any chance he got. Bill enjoyed his time with his grandchildren making sure he always had a special treat for them upon arrival.

Bill survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) of 39 years missing their 40th wedding anniversary by just 1 month. He is also survived by his daughters and their spouses, Heather and Michael Prince of Townsend, Delaware and Shannon and William Stapleford of Newark, Delaware; grandchildren, Chase and Brayden Prince, and Shane and Kaylee Stapleford; a sister and brother in law , Jill Holland Reilly and James Reilly of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; and brother in a law and sister in law, Jerry Lindell and Shirley Posey of Wilmington, Delaware.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 20,2021 at 10 am with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:00 am at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, Delaware 19702. All attending will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing to maintain compliance with State COVID-19 Regulations.
