William Lee Jennings, Sr.

William Jennings Sr., of Newark, DE, Formerly of Philadelphia, PA died on Wednesday August 13th, 2025, at Christiana Care Hospital Accent Care Hospice.

William was born on January 17, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA.  He graduated from Edward W. Bok High School in Philadelphia PA.  William retired from both SEPTA and Lower Merion School District.  He loved music and fishing. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. Rarely did he meet a stranger, he made friends anywhere he went.

He is preceded in death by his father Leroy Jennings Sr., mother Eliza (Cook) Jennings, brother Leroy Jennings Jr. and son William Jr.

He is survived by his wife Maria (Araujo) Jennings, his children Marcus (Fatima), Jennifer (Greg) and Sean (April). His 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, his siblings Reggie (Toy) and Kim (John), his sister’s in-law Marie & Raquel (Joe), Brothers in-law Eddie (Lucia) and John (Kelly). Many Cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.  He will be sorely missed by all.

A Visitation will be held at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 11:00am until 12:00noon, where a memorial service will begin at 12:00noon. Burial will be private.
