William J. "Billy" Pierce Obituary

William Joseph “Billy” Pierce, age 20, of Newark, Delaware was tragically taken from us in a motorcycle accident on November 15, 2020.

Billy had been a student at the University of Delaware.  He graduated from St. Marks High School in 2019.  Billy also attended Caravel Academy through 8th grade.  He had been working part-time at the Shop Rite in Glasgow, DE, while studying to be an accountant.

Billy had been an active member of several organizations during his short life.  He played ice hockey for St. Marks High School, Delaware Jr Blue Hens, Snipers, Delaware Ducks and Caravel Academy. There was nothing he enjoyed more than being a goalie.  Billy was also a goaltender for the St. Marks' Lacrosse Team for all four years of high school.  He was a founding member of the Diamond State Curling Club and a former member of the Delaware Jr Golf League.  He also played baseball with Canal Little League.  Billy loved dogs and was active as a Junior Handler in dog shows across the country and into Canada.

Billy's latest passion was his motorcycles.  He spent countless hours working on the bikes and immersing himself in everything related to riding them.

Billy is survived by his father, Louis Pierce of Newark, DE; his mother, Terry Pierce of Greensboro, NC; his maternal grandmother, Linda Gaynor of Lewes, DE and his paternal grandmother, Bobbi Spencer of Oak Orchard, DE.  Billy also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins.

We are not able to have a service for Billy at this time but please join us in the Spring or Summer when we will be able to have a Celebration of Life and can gather to share memories of this wonderful young man who left us entirely too soon.  When we are able to set a date we will provide more information.

In lieu of flowers, we are asking that you send contributions to an organization that was dear to Billy.  He participated in Hockey for a Cause during his time as a goaltender for St. Marks and played in their charity game each year.  On line donations can be made at:  https://www.dfrc.org/donation-form.html
