On Sunday, January 10, 2021, Zachary Hunter McLaughlin, a devoted son, brother, and uncle, passed unexpectedly at age 23.
Zach was born on December 17, 1997 in Newark, Delaware to Martin and Suzanne McLaughlin. He graduated from Appoquinimink High School in June 2016. He grew up spending his time outdoors with his father and brothers. Quality, relaxing time was always spent with his mother, who loved nothing more than their beach time especially when they would drive on the Delaware beaches together. Zach, who was known for his quick-wit, was also outgoing and friendly. His kind, generous heart touched countless lives throughout his short life. Zach was a beloved uncle and cherished the time spent with his nieces and nephews.
Zach enjoyed spending his free time hunting deer and waterfowl. His hunting background pushed him to his favorite pastime of trap shooting. He began this passion out of high school and excelled very quickly. He became a board member of Oxford gun club where he has perfected his craft. He proudly became the Delaware State Champion Trap Shooter multiple times. Christmas and birthdays were usually filled with boxes of shells from the family to support his hobby!
Zach was predeceased by his two grandfathers, Martin McLaughlin and Ray Ivey. He is survived by his parents, Martin and Suzanne McLaughlin of Millsboro, Delaware, brother Ryan McLaughlin (Alex) of Clayton, Delaware, brother Kyle McLaughlin (Amie) of Smyrna, Delaware, maternal grandmother Peg Ivey, paternal grandmother Winifred McLaughlin, nephews Colin and Conor McLaughlin and his nieces Payton and Kennedy McLaughlin.
A visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 pm at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, Delaware on Tuesday January 19, 2021. The memorial service will be private. Please note current COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines will be observed and masks will be required.
